About me

My interest is the application of high performance and high throughput computing in data processing, data analysis, and numerical simulations of dynamical processes. I have a background in Theoretical Physics with a Ph.D. from Rostock University (2008), where I studied analytical models and numerical simulations of extremely dense and hot matter.

After a postdoc at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (USA), I became a Scientific Software Developer at QuantumWise A/S in Copenhagen, Denmark and developed simulation codes for next-generation semiconductor devices. At the European X-Ray Free-Electron Laser near Hamburg, I developed a software suite to simulate structural resolution experiments using ultrashort, extremely bright x-ray pulses and data analysis tools for the enormous data rates of several hundred terabytes per experiment.

I joined the Max-Planck-Institute for Evolutionary Biology in March 2019. My main focus is the implementation of sustainable data management strategies for high throughput and metagenomic sequencing projects and supporting other scientists in applying HPC/HTC in their work.
